  • Frequently Asked Questions

    What are seamless gutters?
Seamless rain gutters are just as the name implies – seamless. There isn’t a break in the gutter.
How do seamless gutters differ from sectional gutters?
FSince there is no seam, there are no leaks. This is why they are the most popular type of gutter today. The only seams are at inside and outside corners. The seamless gutters are siliconed, screwed and warranted for five years not to leak. Seamless gutters are usually made from aluminum, but they can be made from copper. They are made with a seamless gutter machine that is brought to your home by the gutter contractor. Each individual gutter is customized to fit your home. With a conventional sectional gutter system there are many sections of guttering all pieced together by snap-in-place connectors. Over time these sections form leaks in the seams and can cause wood rot behind the gutter.
    Do gutters cause ice build-up?
Ice that continually freezes in gutters can be a pain in the neck for homeowners. Once ice has clogged the gutter or the drainpipe, thawing causes water to overflow the gutter, and subsequent freezing can lead to roof damage and dangerous ice patches on the ground. Understanding what causes ice build up is the first step in solving the problem. The main cause of ice build up on the roof has to do with Poor Attic Insulation. Heat escaping through the roof of the house melts the bottom of the snow that is on the roof. This melted snow trickles down until it reaches the edge of the roof. When it reaches the gutter, it is no longer warmed by the heat from the house and it freezes into ice. This process can eventually build up large amounts of ice on and around the gutter. Other reasons for ice build-up are blocked drainpipes or improperly placed gutters.
How much does a new gutter system cost?
The cost will vary depending on the type of gutter material used (i.e., aluminum, copper, linear footage, the amount and length of down spouts and mitered corners).
    How long will installation take?
Most jobs can be finished in less than a day.
Will i need to clean the gutters every year?
Yes, depending on where you live (close to trees), the usual cleaning should be performed several times a year to ensure optimal gutter performance.
